Can you share your personal experiences and challenges with haltering horses?
Brianna: When I first got my gelding Dually, he had problems with people touching his ears which translated into problems haltering and bridling. Once we were able to rule out pain, I knew it was most likely a bad experience in past training and could start moving forward. After about a month of building trust, he quickly learned that having his ears touch was no big deal!

What are your key strategies for building trust and respect during the haltering process?
Brianna: One of my key strategies is creating a lot of routine and consistency. Having a routine is so important because although the process might still be uncomfortable for them, they begin to know what to expect every day which can alleviate a lot of stress and anxiety.

What advice would you give to beginners learning about haltering horses?Brianna: My biggest piece of advice would be to never be afraid to ask your peers for advice and never be afraid to take criticism. We have all made mistakes even with as something that seems so simple like haltering and being open to hearing what people have to say, whether you take their advice or not, will only make you a better horseman.

Ask your peers for advice and never be afraid to take criticism.
